Equal Opportunities

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES STATEMENT

The Academy has an ethos, developed over nearly 100 years, of welcoming students from across the social and cultural spectrum.

The Academy is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for staff and students, regardless of age, colour, ethnic origin, disability, family responsibility, gender, marital status, nationality and race, religion, sexual orientation or socio-economic status, where it can be shown that the specific qualities of an individual student or staff member are appropriate to the activity to be undertaken.

ADMISSIONS EQUALITY

The Academy have a Code of Practice for the auditions and admissions procedure. Students are offered places at the Academy on the basis of their talent and aptitude for the training and the industry, regardless of gender, race, creed, colour, religion, age, physical impairment, learning difficulties or any other factor.

DISABILITY EQUALITY

The Italia Conti Academy is aware of its obligations and responsibilities under the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001 and the Disability Equality Duty 2006. Students and staff are protected under the terms of this act.

Italia Conti has long been associated with the development of artistic individuality, and we recognise that a diverse staff and student body is a fundamental component of the creative excellence of our training.

Audition and interview selection procedures are designed to uncover talent, aptitude, temperament and charisma and are not based on any specific physical or mental ideal. We therefore welcome applications from disabled persons and are more than happy to discuss individual cases where potential students need guidance as to their aptitude for the courses offered by the Academy, and to make reasonable adjustment to audition procedures  to ensure rigorous but appropriate and inclusive assessment of each applicant.

The Academy is committed to providing a supportive and professional learning /working environment for all its students and staff, and to engage in active discussion with all stakeholders in order to develop this policy to meet changing needs and requirements on an ongoing basis.
