Shauna McLean – Alan Bates Award Winner 2016

Congratulations to 2016 Graduate Shauna McLean, winner of the Alan Bates Award 2016.

The award was endowed to commemorate Sir Alan Bates’s inspirational work on behalf of the Actors Centre and is awarded annually to an actor of exceptional talent. This year saw more than 300 young actors apply for the competition this year, which is the highest in its 12-year history.

The Award was selected from audition and interview by a panel of judges who are industry practitioners in their own right. The panel included BBC head of casting Julia Crampsie and actor Alex Jennings.

Shauna accepted the award saying “It means everything to have opportunities like this. This award allows me to have guidance and a mentor and to financially be able to carry on as a proactive actor, which wouldn’t have been possible without the award. It’s fantastic.”
