Dugald Bruce-Lockhart – Director/Acting Tutor
Dugald graduated as an actor from RADA in 1994 and has had an extensive theatre career which includes working with the Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Theatre, Bath Theatre Royal, The English Touring Theatre, Hampstead, Plymouth Theatre Royal, Edinburgh Lyceum and Nottingham Playhouse. His West-End appearances include The Deep Blue Sea (Vaudeville Theatre) A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Comedy Theatre) Taming of The Shrew and Twelfth Night (Old Vic). He is also a long-standing member of Ed Hall’s all-male ensemble, Propeller and over the last fourteen years has played leading roles in twelve separate productions, touring extensively in the UK and to over twenty countries worldwide. (His television appearances include Trust, Foyle’s War, Midsummer Murders, Hotel Babylon, Walter’s war, Wycliffe, Demon Headmaster, Bugs II, Brookside, The Bill, and film credits include Hart’s War, From Time to Time and Alive and Kicking.)
Dugald has recently become an associate director with Propeller and continues to teach and direct for drama schools as well as lead acting workshops for schools across the UK including Harrow, Abingdon, St Katherine & St Helen’s, and also at Cambridge University and for the O’Neill Institute in the USA. He has been teaching and directing at Italia Conti in Clapham since 2007 and directed the third year production of After The Dance in the autumn of 2009.
He is currently playing the title role in Propeller’s production of Henry V which is touring nationally and internationally, ending up at Hampstead in July 2012 and is looking forward to returning to direct at Italia Conti later in the year.
