Graeme du Fresne – Head of Music & Singing
Graeme has been at Italia Conti since 2002 and is Head of Singing and Music at on the BA (Hons) Acting Programme. He still works regularly in professional theatre and has been Musical Director for the Mercury Theatre, Colchester since 1995 on their pantomimes, Brecht’s Arturo Ui and ‘ Oh What a Lovely War . Graeme’s musical directing work elsewhere includes shows for various repertory and small scale touring companies including the Liverpool Everyman and the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. He also wrote the music for a series of Grangehill (B.B.C Television)
Acting work includes ‘Sir John French’ in Colchester’s Oh What a Lovely War , High Society (West Yorkshire Playhouse) and Showboat at the London Palladium. On television his work includes Truly Madly Deeply, Inspector Morse, Holding On, Casualty,The Blonde Bombshell, Family Affairs , ‘Micawber’ , ‘Chucklevision’ and Murder City
Graeme has directed three community plays one of which he wrote, and a reminiscence play about Buckinghamshire with professionals. He wrote and directed a children’s play for the Natural History Museum called the Beast Feast and is also director of the European Theatre Summer School in Luxembourg. Graeme holds an M.A in Modern Theatre and Drama from London Metropolitan University and he also teaches singing and ‘Acting Through Song’ at Drama Centre, London.
